Porcelain Veneers are very thin laminates of porcelain which are bonded on top of your prepared tooth/teeth. The shade and shape is matched to your surrounding teeth so that the veneers blend in and look like your natural teeth. They are cosmetically used to improve the appearance of your existing teeth and are ideal for:

• Chipped teeth;
• Permanently stained or discoloured teeth;
• Gappy or crooked teeth.\

Our cosmetic dentists at ConfiDental Clinic Purley will usually advise a wax up study model before preparing your tooth/teeth for veneers. This is where a cast is made of your teeth and wax veneers are placed on the proposed tooth/ teeth. You can then see how the end result will appear and make changes to the shade and/or shape before continuing. At the preparation appointment, your cosmetic dentist will remove a thin layer off the top surface of the tooth/teeth, take impressions and place a temporary veneer on the prepared surface/s.

The impressions are then sent to our laboratory who will make the veneer/s based upon the bespoke design and prescription from your dentist. These usually take around two weeks. The veneer/s is then placed on your teeth before bonding to ensure you are happy with the result. You may sometimes require a follow up visit after having the veneers bonded to review function, aesthetics and check your bite.
