About the Business
It’s the result of our shared vision to create a dental practice unlike any we have seen or worked in, a place where all the normal features of a visit to the dentist — fear, awkward hours, pain, stress — are banished in favour of a new approach.

What’s good about being a husband and wife dental team is that we learn from each other. We pick up little tips from each other and discuss cases, it’s a bit geeky but we do like to talk teeth and it makes us better dentists. We are so proud and excited to also introduce Cameron Walker to our team (after some gentle persuasion). We trained together at Glasgow University, he is our dear friend and he was at our wedding.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are among the most life changing procedures in dentistry and as a general rule the most experienced practitioners produce the most reliable results. Our resident implantologist Colin Gardner qualified all the way back in 1988 from Dundee University.

He started working in Glasgow in his early 20s where he met Buttercup’s joint owner Angela Rowlands as his child patient and he later took her on as his work experience student.

The research on dental implants goes way back over 50 years, beginning with the startling discovery by a Swedish physician called Per-Ingvar Brånemark that if you put a titanium viewing box into a rabbit’s leg you’d have real problems getting it out after a period of healing. What he discovered was a process he called osseointegration, and this became a cornerstone of dental implants.

Essentially it means that, once it’s inserted, your bone naturally grows around your implant and holds it in place — the nearest we can get to giving you your own teeth back. A dental implant acts like a root and we then attach some form of restoration onto it.
Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a really simple way to brighten up your teeth. It’s a safe procedure using trays (like gum shields) that are filled with whitening gel and worn overnight at home for two to four weeks.

The effect is long lasting and can be topped up once a year. Studies have shown there is no long term damage to teeth from tooth whitening, although you may experience temporary sensitivity on your teeth and gums during treatment.

Nearly half the population are unhappy with their teeth (48 per cent) and discolouration (64 per cent) is the main reason, so what’s not to like about having whiter teeth?
