Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. The implant, which is made of titanium, is fitted in bone where the tooth root would normally be. When fully integrated to the bone, a post (or abutment) is attached to the implant and a crown, bridge or denture is then placed over the abutment to replace the missing tooth or teeth. Dental implants are placed in-house at Gwynne Dental by both Peter and Georgina who use the Straumann system exclusively. Straumann is a brand leading swiss implant system that produces very high quality components rigourosly tested and developed. Many cheaper copy cat systems are on the market today.

Implant supported dentures revolutionize full denture wearing particularly on the lower arch. They eliminate the moving around of the denture in function so reducing discomfort and difficulty in eating harder or stickier foods. Patient satisfaction is very high following the securing of a full denture.
