About the Business

St Raphael’s Dental Practice is a modern practice in Upholland Village, five miles from Wigan town centre. The practice offers both NHS and private cosmetic dental treatments and was established in November 2009 by the current owner and dentist, Dr Raphy Paul.

Our practice team consists of four dentists including an dental implantologist, an advanced dental hygienist, qualified dental nurses and a practice manager.

Dr Paul has practised dentistry for more than a decade. He achieved the MFDS (RCS) and MFGDP postgraduate qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons and also works on a sessional basis teaching undergraduate dental students at Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Our practice offers a high quality dental service for both NHS and private clients. We work hard to provide a client-focused environment catering to all needs and providing dental care in a safe and comfortable environment. The practice is based in a listed building which has been renovated to a high standard, allowing us to offer state-of-the-art treatment in an outstanding setting.

We are rated as fully compliant by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and we worked hard as a team to achieve Good Practice Award status from the British Dental Association in 2012. In 2013, we were officially recognised as a centre of excellence by Investors in People.

General Dental Care

General Dental Care

A visit to the dentist in the 21st century bears no resemblance to the traditional and tired stereotype of white-coated practitioners who inflict pain on frightened patients in sterile-looking rooms filled with dangerous-looking equipment.

The modern dental practice is customer-focused. That means it offers a welcoming, relaxing environment that puts its customers – not patients – at ease. It means the dental team looks professional and is trained to the highest standards. It means that practitioners – dentists, dental hygienists, therapists, and nurses – listen to the needs and desires of their customers and offer a range of solutions to meet them. It means that educational programmes and fun visits are arranged for children so that they grow up with positive perceptions of oral hygiene and can maintain exceptional and attractive smiles.

The contemporary dental practice – your dental practice – is where you go to seek advice and receive treatment to maintain the oral health and attractive smiles of you and your family. Gum disease, root canal treatment, composite fillings/bonding, veneers & crowns, dentures.

Cosmetic Dental Care

Cosmetic Dental Care

Today, how you look is more a matter of choice than genes and it is no different when considering your choice of smile. We all want healthy teeth and gums, fresh breath and the confidence and comfort to choose whatever we would like to eat. But we also want to smile freely, with poise and the assurance that our smile does what it is meant to do: to present and represent us; to be an attractive and welcoming feature.

Using the latest computer imaging technology we are now able to determine the very best cosmetic solutions, show you the potential results and allow you to choose your ideal smile. You can discuss what you don’t like about your teeth, learn about your options and receive an accurate quote for the treatment involved. Dental implants, teeth whitening, smile makeoves, stain removal, anti wrinkle, bridges.
