About the Business

Kendrick View is one of Reading’s most distinguished Georgian properties, dating from 1770s and originally being the home of Mary Russell Mitford, the well-known author of ‘Our Village.’ Mary lived in the house as a girl and the story is that it was bought with her lottery winnings.

We trust that this historic setting contrasts with our practice’s state-of-the-art equipment and dentistry techniques, although we also pride ourselves on showing our patients good, old-fashioned customer service.

A feature of Kendrick View Dental Practice is the longevity of our patient-dentist relationships. Most of our partners have been practising at Kendrick View since the mid-80s, and many of our patients value the opportunity to continue seeing the same dentist over many years – even when they have moved away from Reading. Our dentists have patients coming to see them from as far away as Scotland, The Isle of Wight, Cornwall and a number from abroad. We have many patients who have been coming for over 50 years and several who have been here for over eighty years!

We want your visit to Kendrick View Dental Practice to be as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. To that end, our location within walking distance of the town centre and the Oracle, and our on-site parking, make your travel plans relatively smooth. Our busy patients find that our early morning and evening appointments fit happily into their day. And, of course, we aim to make the treatments themselves as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

You may have heard or seen about implants in the news or press or know a friend who has one. A dental implant is the closest substitute we have today to a real tooth root. Implants can be used as anchors for crowns, bridges or dentures. This means they can be used to securely replace anything from a single missing tooth up to a full row of teeth.

A dental implant is a substitute for the root of your natural tooth and is made from titanium which integrates with bone. Titanium is well accepted by the human body and there are very few cases of allergy or rejection. Once the dental implant has integrated with the bone it can be used as a foundation for replacement teeth. Precision-engineered parts are connected to the implant and these support your dental work, firmly fixing it in place.

Anyone in reasonable health who wants to replace missing teeth could be suitable. Usually you need reasonable quality bone in the implant site but sometimes a bone graft can be used. This will be assessed by your dentist before treatment. Success rates depend partly on the area of the mouth where they are placed and how good your bone is but rates are generally well over 95%, however smoking can compromise this.

Emergencies

Emergencies

  • Introduction.
  • Out of hours emergency dental care.
  • Toothache and dental pain.
  • Problems after dental treatment.
  • Advice following a dental extraction.
  • A lost crown, broken tooth or lost filling.
  • A front tooth has been fractured or knocked out.

At Kendrick View Dental Practice, we are committed to providing all of our patients with high quality dental care. An important part of this commitment is making ourselves available to patients with dental emergencies. We endeavour to offer everybody an appointment on the day that the emergency occurs. If this is not convenient, we will offer an appointment as soon as you are available for attendance at the practice.
